It was time to for us to replace the roof on our house due to the shingles starting to curl. We did not want to delay until we had real water damage from a downpour before we took action. I knew that trying to find a decent roofer might be difficult because I heard countless horror stories from individuals who had been ripped off by various companies. When my brother moved into his first home with his wife just after they got married it happened to him. They realized they required a new roof and he contracted the first business he called. My brother did not have a lot of money at the time therefore he chose the least expensive shingles they had. After 5 years he had to do the whole roof over again. He could not get the contractor who did the shoddy roofing job to stand by the warranty because he left town.Ever since, I have been very cautious about any type of home contractors, particularly roofers. We are having our roof done over this summer, and trust me; I did plenty of research before I selected a company.
I first checked online using search terms like roofing company in Oklahoma City. Then I read many online reviews. We selected the 10 best ones based on the customer and website reviews we discovered online. We visited the businesses and spoke with their owners. We requested references and we really went to observe a few examples of roofs that they had completed in Oklahoma City and spoke with the homeowners. We also called the Better Business Bureau to ask if they had a good reputation.
One very important thing to us was making sure that we were getting a good roof warranty. Because my brother had his roof done by a company that was dishonest and seedy, he was never capable of getting them to perform repair work under the promises of the warranty they had provided. That business had just changed their name and went to another state. The warranty was useless.
From that time on, I promised I would never make that exact mistake. Having a new roof put on your house is a major expenditure and I wish to ensure that it is done correctly. I want to know the roofing business has reliability and will stand behind all the work they are doing.
