The winners of a Glastonbury Emerging talent competition have announced a new Arts Council England funded project called ?Music in Museums?. North East act Bridie Jackson & The Arbour will curate a series of events across the region, including The Walled Garden Festival at Preston Park in Stockton on Monday 27th May.

Tickets for the festival are ?8, with live acts playing the museum?s walled kitchen gardens (the clue is in the title) and a line-up featuring Bridie Jackson & The Arbour alongside the likes of Lilliput and Rob Heron & The Teapad Orchestra. Audiences will be encouraged to explore the museum, with live entertainment on the cobbled streets including traditional music and dance alongside pop-up performances from contemporary artists.

Arbour Cellist Cenny Nendick said: "We are particularly excited about The Walled Garden Festival as it allows us the chance to showcase some of the best emerging talent from the thriving local contemporary folk scene. Stockton is the ideal place for the festival as it is rapidly becoming one of the most exciting places in the region for live music?.

Bridie Jackson & The Arbour recently fended off over 8,000 applicants to win the emerging talent contest at Glastonbury and will play on two stages at the festival at the end of June.

Music in Museums will run from May to July this year, bringing a unique range of musical performances and projects into museums and galleries across the region, including Woodhorn Colliery, Bede's World and the Shipley Gallery. The Gen suggests that this is extended to a festival featuring acts performing exclusively dressed in that large and quite terrifying deep sea diver?s suit standing in Sunderland museum.
